New Treatment Solutions for Vein Conditions
Vascular conditions such as varicose veins, reticular veins and spider veins blemish the skin and can keep us from looking and feeling our best. With the availability of new, advanced therapies, these conditions can be treated more safely and effectively than ever. At The Vein Center, our board certified vascular surgeons are experienced in all recognized vascular therapies.
Sclerotherapy is the treatment of choice for removal of spider veins and reticular veins. Utilizing an injection of a liquid solution directly into affected veins, the solution causes vein walls to collapse. Over several weeks, the body absorbs the tissue and the blemish disappears. Foam sclerotherapy uses a foam rather than liquid solution, allowing for treatment of larger veins or a larger area of the skin.
Vein stripping, a traditional surgical procedure, can treat large varicose veins caused by faulty valves in the saphenous vein in the leg. In this procedure, the saphenous vein is surgically removed through a pair of small incisions.
Laser ablation is a minimally invasive endovenous procedure that can eliminate spider veins, varicose veins and reticular veins, and can be performed in a doctor’s office on an outpatient basis. In the laser ablation procedure, intense pulses of laser light coagulate the problem vein, which is subsequently absorbed by the body.
Microphlebectomy involves the removal of varicose veins through micro incisions, utilizing any of several minimally invasive techniques that have been developed for this procedure.
